Here is what Jackie Chan had to say about his daughter coming out

Instagram

The action movie star had a short response about his estranged daughter.

Etta Ng, daughter of film and martial artist legend, Jackie Chan, broke the internet last month when she announced to the world that she is a lesbian.

In a post on Instagram, Etta wrote: “In case no one got the memo, I’m gay.”

Happy National Coming Out day !! ????????????????

Jackie’s daughter was born through an affair with beauty queen Elaine Ng, so Jackie has never had a close relationship with her.

In the past Etta claimed: “He is my biological father but he is not in my life. He never existed in my life. I will never regard him as a father.”

While he was promoting his film Foreigner, Chan was asked about his feelings towards his daughter’s coming out. Despite the estrangement, he had this brief message to say: “If she likes it that’s fine.”

Etta has largely struggled with her identity in the past, attempting suicide on multiple occasions.

Since coming to terms with her sexuality, however, she has received a tremendous amount of support.

In China, the government has largely tried to ban media containing LGBT+ themes, but the younger generations are generally more supportive, fighting in the name of LGBT+ rights.

I am in awe at the amount of support and love poured my way. I am speechless at how followers went to my Girlfriend @andiautumn and my account to show us both so much positivity. People all over the world have been rooting us on as Hong Kong media continues to mock. I’ve grown up in a world of negativity and close mindedness but I am at that point where I realise that I can use my experience to tell my truths and help others just like me. Thankfully I’ve grown since the days I was powerless and uncertain what the world has for me. Thank you for the enormous outpour of love and acceptance. ????❤️???????????????? ????❤️???????????? #lgbt #androgynous #lgbtqai #loveislove #lovewins #lovealwayswins #lesbian #love #support #???? #androgynous #queer #gay #gaygram #loveyourself #advocacy

We are happy to see Etta living her truth and finding happiness in her community and with her girlfriend, Andi Autumn, a social media influencer.

Since coming out, her online fan base has been a great outlet for support. Etta sent out an Instagram post in thanks.
